What "grafting" means in gardening
Grafting is the process of joining two different plants or plant parts (called scion and rootstock) in order to form a single plant. This is typically done by cutting a small branch or bud from one plant (the scion) and attaching it to the stem or root of another plant (the rootstock) with the goal of creating a stronger or more disease-resistant plant with desirable characteristics. Grafting is commonly used in fruit tree production and can also be used to create ornamental plants with unique colors or shapes.
