What "berry" means in gardening

A berry is a fleshy fruit that has multiple seeds inside and develops from a single ovary. Common examples of berries include blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, and grapes. However, not all fruits that we call berries are botanically classified as such. For example, tomatoes and avocados are technically berries, while fruits like bananas and pineapples are not.
