What "discovered check" means in chess

A discovered check is a move where a piece is moved and uncovers a check from a different piece, either a queen, rook or bishop. The uncovered piece attacks the opposing king, while the other piece moves out of the way and possible attacks another piece. The opposing player is then forced to move their king or block the check with another piece. It is a powerful tactic that can often result in a material advantage or even checkmate.
