What "free throw line" means in basketball

In basketball, the free throw line is a designated spot on the court where players shoot free throws. It is 15 feet away from the backboard and is located in the center of the court, perpendicular to the basket. When a player is fouled and awarded free throws, they step up to the free throw line and attempt to shoot the ball into the basket without any interference from defenders.
