What "wild pitch" means in baseball

In baseball, a "wild pitch" is when the pitcher throws a ball that is far away from the catcher and cannot be controlled. This may happen when the pitcher is overexcited or tries to throw too hard. A player can advance to the next base if the ball gets away from the catcher and goes far enough.
