What "strike out" means in baseball

"Strike out" is a term used in baseball to describe when a batter is unable to hit a pitched ball three times in a row. If a batter accumulates three strikes, they become "out" and have to leave the field of play. This means that they cannot receive any more opportunities to hit the ball during that inning.
