What "plate" means in baseball
In baseball, the "plate" refers to home plate, which is a five-sided shaped rubber plate placed at the end of the baseball diamond. It is positioned in the center of the diamond and serves as the final destination for the batter. When a player hits the ball and runs around the bases, they must touch the plate to score a run. Additionally, the plate is also used by the pitcher as a reference point when throwing the ball to start each pitch of the game.
