What "pitcher" means in baseball
In baseball, a pitcher is a player who delivers the ball to the opposing team's batter. The pitcher stands on a raised mound, and their objective is to throw the ball in such a way that the batter misses or hits it in a way that the defense can catch the ball and get an out. Pitchers must have a variety of pitches in their arsenal, such as fastballs, change-ups, sliders, and curveballs, to keep batters guessing and to avoid becoming predictable.
