What "left field" means in baseball

In baseball, "left field" refers to the area of the playing field that is positioned towards the left side of the diamond when viewed from home plate. This position is typically assigned to an outfielder whose primary role is to field balls hit by right-handed batters. Left fielders must be able to cover a significant amount of ground and throw accurately to both the infield and outfield, as well as have a good understanding of the game situation to anticipate where the ball may be hit.
